Methodology Statement: Gotham Polling & Analytics

The poll was conducted by Gotham Polling & Analytics between February 20 and February 25, 2025, to assess Democratic voter preferences in New York’s Mayor’s race ahead of the June primary election.

Key Details:

– Sample Size: 1653 total respondents, 1,567 of whom indicated they were “very likely” or “somewhat likely” to vote in the upcoming primary.

– Survey Mode: Text message invitations were sent to respondents, who then completed a web based survey.

– Population: The poll targeted registered Democratic voters in New York City who were most likely to vote in the primary based on our behavior model, drawn from the L2-data.com voter registration database.

– Sampling Method: Respondents were randomly selected from the voter registration database, with efforts to ensure representation across key demographic groups such as age, gender and ethnicity as well as location. Surveys were completed by those who qualified as likely voters or somewhat  likely to vote.

– Weighting: The data was weighted to reflect the demographic and geographic composition of New York City’s Democratic primary voters, modeled around previous voter turnout and other variables. The weighting accounted for variables such as age, gender, ethnicity group and borough.

– Margin of Error: ±2.41% at a 95% confidence interval. This margin applies to the full sample of 1,653 respondents.

– Survey Completion: Respondents who indicated they were either very likely to vote or somewhat likely were eligible to complete the full survey.

– This survey was sponsored by the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce (https://chamber.nyc/).
